All workshops, round table discussions & portfolio reviews are conducted at Alaska Ridgetop Inn. Alaska Ridgetop Inn is approximately 6 miles from downtown Homer surrounded by lawns and gardens with views of Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet. A spacious, quiet, picturesque setting for the Homer Photo Fest.

Evening public lectures are held at the Kachemak Bay Campus-Kenai Peninsula College/UAA.

Tuesday, May 31st

9am to 3pm: Participants portfolio presentations (Lunch served noon to 1pm). Alaska Ridgetop Inn, (907) 235-5680. The participant portfolio presentations are new to the HPF. This need not be a formal portfolio presentation and can be in the form of prints (loose or matted), or by digital projection (please make files 72 dpi at 1024 px on the longest side saved as jpgs). The participant portfolio presentations are intended as an in depth introduction of each of the HPF participants to the group. Each participant will be given the opportunity to show and talk about their work. Registered participants only.

3:30pm: Drop off of prints for the June 3rd group exhibition, "re:Vision."

    Must be a paid HPF participant, organizer or guest artist.
    Can submit up to two images. (Depending on space only one image may be exhibited).
    All submissions must be framed and ready to hang with hanging wire.
    All submissions must include a Title, Process, Name and Price
    All submissions must arrive in Homer and be delivered to HPF organizers or the Homer Council on the Arts no later then 5pm, Friday May 31st.

5:30pm: Lecture by Andrea Modica, "Andrea Modica: Portraits."
Kachemak Bay Campus-Kenai Peninsula College/UAA, 533 East Pioneer Avenue.
Andrea will show portraits from long-term bodies of work, including Treadwell and Fountain. In Treadwell, she photographed a girl for 15 years. In Fountain she photographed a family and their small backyard slaughterhouse for 9 years. In addition she will also show portraits from her years of assignment work. Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, June 1st

9am to 3pm: Workshop by Andrea Modica, "The Intuitive Portrait." Alaska Ridgetop Inn, (907) 235-5680. (Lunch served noon to 1pm) Registered participants only.

5:30pm: Lecture by Sam Abell, "The Life of a Photograph."
Kachemak Bay Campus-Kenai Peninsula College/UAA, 533 East Pioneer Avenue.
Photographer Sam Abell will give a lecture looking at images that have attained a life of their own and discuss why and how that happened. Along the way he delves into stories that illuminate the images and the life he has led in order to make them. This talk is filled with the adventures and misadventures of a person determined from a young age to live the photographic life. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, June 2nd

9am to 3pm: Workshop by Sam Abell, "The Next Step," Alaska Ridgetop Inn, (907) 235-5680. (Lunch served noon to 1pm) Registered participants only.

5:30pm: Lecture by Stephen Perloff, "Documentary Photography in the Age of Reality TV." Homer City Hall, 491 East Pioneer Avenue.
Digital technology makes the manipulation of images extraordinarily easy. How has digital technology altered our perceptions of documentary photography and photojournalism? But from the earliest days of photography, has seeing always been believing? This lecture explores these and other questions concerning the digital age of photography. Free and open to the public.

7pm: Portfolio Walk, Homer Photo Fest Participants show their portfolios to the public. Come see what all the fuss is about. See some remarkable photography from some of the states best photographers. Homer City Hall, 491 East Pioneer Avenue. Free and open to the public.

Friday, June 3rd

9am to 3pm: Workshop by Stephen Perloff, "A Day in the Life of Homer," Alaska Ridgetop Inn, (907) 235-5680. (Lunch served noon to 1pm) Registered participants only.

5pm: re:Visions, opening reception, Homer Photo Fest Group Exhibition
Homer Council on The Arts, 355 West Pioneer Avenue.
New to the HPF is a group exhibit at the Homer Council on the Arts gallery in downtown Homer. There will be a June 3rd “First Friday” Gala opening reception and talk by Anchorage photographer, artist and curator Hal Gage. Free and open to the public.

Saturday, June 4th

9am to 4pm: One-on-one portfolio reviews (Lunch served noon to 1pm).
Reviewers: Sam Abell, Andrea Modica, Stephen Perloff. Schedule and number of reviews for each participant will be determined by May 31st. Registered participants only.
Concurrently: Round table discussions facilitated by accomplished Alaskan photographers. The round table discussions are designed for a free flow of movement between discussions and portfolio reviews. Alaska Ridgetop Inn, (907) 235-5680. Registered participants only.

4:30pm: Homer Photo Fest Closing Gathering. Registered participants only.

5:30pm: Seafood Banquet and silent auction. Advanced tickets required: $35.00 registered HPF participants, $45 general public.
