HOMER PHOTO FEST 2007
PORTFOLIO COMPETITION

This statewide competition is open to amateur and professional photographers residing in Alaska. All photographically derived mediums will be considered. This competition strives to promote the best in photography by Alaskans. The Statewide Homer Photo Fest Portfolio Competition is different then most juried photography competitions. Rather than being judged on the merits of a single image this competition allows a photographer to enter a body of work based on a single theme and judged on the merits of that body's cohesiveness and its visual and thematic impact.

Three nationally recognized photographers, educators and principals in the photographic industry (Michelle Dunn-Marsh, Sylvia Plachy, and Tom Rankin) were selected to judge the portfolios and select Alaskan photographers to mount concurrent solo shows. The exhibitions will take place at the prestigious Pratt Museum in Homer, Alaska with an opening September 8, from 5-6pm and a panel discussion at 6pm. 3779 Bartlett Street Homer, (907) 235-8635 (exhibition travels in October to Gary L. Freeburg Gallery at Kenai Peninsula College).

This year the jurors selected Bob Hallinen and Dennis Witmer for solo exhibitions with honorable mentions going to Alejandro Barrigan and Kim Terpening.
